Drum Magazine "Review"

2003-12-09 by emf

We would have been happy to publish that announcement of the DTXpress
III for Yamaha, as well as for ourselves and everyone else in the e-
drum community that drops by from time to time. Drum Magazine's
circulation is probably better than ours, but we aren't exactly
chopped liver. And we expressed interest early enough for Yamaha to
take notice. It would be nice to get in good enough position with the
company to receive some of these notices as a matter of course. We'll
certainly be fielding a lot of questions about the kits before and
after they arrive (whether we're equipped to answer them all or not).
We should be in the loop.

By the way, a prominent member of the e-drum establishment (forgive
the term), who is not connected with Yamaha and who will remain
nameless, volunteered to me that the new sounds in the III module
are "very very nice." From all appearances, it seems like the new
module is not primarily a cosmetic improvement, though moving up to
24 bit/ 192 khz would have been welcome. How much would it have cut
into DTXtreme II territory or jacked up the price?
