Re: [DTXpress] Re: New poll for DTXpress

2000-12-07 by Mark T. Owen

No problem here Gary... I got it right away so i cast a vote. I too wonder about the rapid changes in e-drum development. I had been away from the gear thing for some time: happy with my two Gretsch kits, and not playing much anyway. Then found myself with a need for a "silent" practice device. Elated to find the DTXpress and even considering incorporating the DTX into my regular stage set-up for effects, additional snare drums, latin percussion, etc. So I guess we've come a long way since the Simmons stopsigns.

Funny story: I met a Yamaha guy at a drum festival event and asked him a couple of questions, that he couldn't answer. I told him about our discussion group, and the website. He had no idea that either existed, didn't seem terribly interested and passed me over to the drummer who was about to do the DTXpress demo. The "demo" consisted of 15 minutes of playing the factory preset kits and songs. The guy had obviously not spent any time with the kit to find out what it is capable of !! ( OK, it's not that funny...)

So Yamaha: if you are listening, (I doubt it) wake up and smell the cawfee. You want user feedback ?? We got it right here ! And hire demo guys who actually know about your product! duh!

Lovely work troops... loved your early dance steps.

uh, I dont know what you pdk and vcrmac are so taken aback by here, I
am just a DTXpress user like yourselves, who thought it would be fun
to make use of the polls feature of this egroups board. If you had
checked the creator of the poll, and searched his (my) messages, you
would have noticed I am just a regular user like yourselves.

While I am flattered that my questions were interpreted as
professionally-oriented, I was merely curious as to whether
DTXpress owners generally own one or more acoustic kits (i myself own
a Yammy HipGig and a Tama Rockstar double-Kick kit), and curious as
to whether anyone else was even a tad worried about being left behind
when newer devices like the DTXtreme come out, and whether, because
the DTX is realitively cheap, if they would proabably just keep it as
a kit to leave at the rehearsal space, etc.

I imagine there are many drummers on this board who were wondering
the same things as me. If you aren't one of them, you dont have to
enter your vote... geez.

I admit that an actual Yammy Drums employee (gasp) may come upon the
poll and gather seeeeeeecret eeenformation from it and use it
to help Yammy Drums make meeeelions of dollars of our unwitting
amateur internet poll research, but I'm afraid thats beyond our
control. Its also highly unlikely that Yammy would change its e-drums
course based on our little informal egroups poll.

So vote if you like, and just have fun sharing in the DTXpress egroup
experience.

Cheers,

Gary
