I think the thing you speak of is "Active Sensing".
Active Sensing is a process by which MIDI devices can
monitor an active connection with other MIDI devices.
This message is sent regularly at specific intervals.
I can't remember if you can turn it off in the
DTXpress, but you should be able to filter it out
using your sequencer software or interface.
