Of interest is the fact that the first pair I bought a year and a half ago are still just fine- one does not break sticks on these pads. One does not get the gnawed-by-chipmunks effect that comes from metal rims and cymbals. Many folks like a fatter stick- more like the 5As- but in truth you can get volume from the volume control so you don't need to hit as hard.
