RE: [DTXpress] Re: how to add more pads?

2004-04-19 by rdamon@mckinney-usa.com

If you take a two PCY65S cymbal pads and take a Y-stereo cable (similar to
what you would use to split a stereo headphone jack out of an amplifier to
use with two stereo headphones, not the typical Y-insert cable that splits a
stereo to a mono-left/mono-right output) and plug it into input no. 7. The
voice you assign for the pad will be the same for both pads and the voice
you assign for the rim will be the same for both rims, but you now will have
two crash cymbals in your kit, even though they will have the same voices
for both. And choking will work on both cymbals. The down side is, of
course, that both cymbals will have the same voices, but you get a crash for
the left and a crash for the right side of you kit.

Wait...are you saying you can split the crash or ride input into two
stereo pads so you can connect two stereo pads into each and get the
bow/edge sounds and still choke? If you can, can you change the
sounds on those sharing a stereo input. This sounds like it can't be
done...splitting a stereo input into two stereo inputs and allow
multiple sounds.

P.S. You can always do what I am doing, putting a PCY65S in the
factory ride input and splitting 9/10 into the ride and adding a bell
pad. I will probably buy a second module or the converter soon. (Am
kinda hoping another company comes out with a converter so I don't
have to pay Roland prices.)
