Keith, What you say makes sense, except that one of the anomalies of these so-called "stereo" pads is, or at least used to be, that sometimes hitting in the vicinity of the rim switch didn't always result in a sound--either that of the head or of the rim. From what I recall, the lapse wasn't just a function of the trigger settings. I could be wrong. Any ideas, everyone? Ed
