thanks and info

fellow drummers,
I had decided after a 12 year hiatus to start playing again, so my first
course of action was to hit the 'net and get some info. After reading
rmmp I stumbled across this list and joined and proceded to read all of the archives.
This list is great and convinced me to buy a dtxpress kit. Got up to the
guitar center last night and demo'ed it and made the plunge!. While I was there
I had them pull out a pintech concert-cast pad and w/the aid of a stereo
to (2) mono adapter(the pintech has two 1/4" inputs head and rim)we plugged it into
and voila! It worked, the rim shots were not very loud, and at one point
I thought the rim shots were triggering the head trigger, but after I removed
the connection to the head, I was still able to hear the rim shots, I am sure that
a little tweaking could get the rim trigger sounding more even in level to the
rest of the pads. Unfortunately, they did not have a mesh head unit w/the
silent-trim, so I did not purchase it(also there seemed to be some dead spots on the
rim, so you might want a snare stand to mount it so you can orient it right for you setup).
At any rate, I must say I am thrilled with
this kit! played for three hours straight last night! I also plan to try putting the
two cymbal pads on one input with the splitter cable (I had noticed that the crash
input also has a china for the rim, for instance) which may prove to may this kit
quite expandable. I'll keep you guys posted with the results of future experiments!
Later,
Jim
