Re: Latency-cakewalk

2004-06-10 by mikkohelin

CPA 9 can't use ASIO neither can it use kernel streaming, only the
latest SONAR can do it(as well as Cubase). Anyway, problem may be
that there is somewhere in CPA preferences a setting like "MIDI to
Audio delay" that needs to be adjusted until the recorded MIDI and
audio click are in sync. That's what also matters to Cubasers.
Latency of soundcard (audiocard) doesn't have anything to do with
MIDI recording, and the computer (1GHz) is just fine for the job, as
long as you don't use software instruments (DXi's or VSTi's) without
ASIO / KS supporting software. You can run Battery etc. with 1 Ghz PC
easily, 256 Mb RAM is enough if you adjust the number of audio
tracks / buffers / buffer sizes. Cubase / Cubasis VST 5.1 might be
the best program for the job then (SX/SL might be too heavy, SE has
VST 5.1 audio engine so it can be used). I don't use Sonar so can't
say anything about it (ask people on Cakewalk forums, they are nice
people).
