Big News!

Big News!

2004-07-28 by Stephanie Ellison

Hi Everyone!

I have big news! I got the gig with a hard rock cover band in Houston
(Gurlfriendz)! This band is all girls and plays hard rock music, a new
genre for me, really, but I can pull it off. These ladies are talented (the
singer is a professional, and all of the guitar players have 20+ years of
playing experience apiece). I went down on Saturday morning, met at
Krystin's house (she's the rhythm guitar player), and then went to Rachel's
house (singer) for the audition. Was I nervous! I had to warm up for about
10 minutes to loosen up and kind of show my abilities that lie outside of
rock music. After we played about 3 songs that I only had a week and a half
to work on, we just jammed on original stuff. That gave me a chance to show
what I could bring to the sound image. The band took off for a few minutes
to talk among themselves and decide what to say. They made the offer to me!
Of course, I accepted. We went swimming in the back for a little while
before getting ready for the big night, which was about introducing me to the
fan base as the new drummer for Gurlfriendz.

Later that night, I ran into a woman whom I met in Austin during an events
luncheon a couple of months ago. I had annnounced at the luncheons who I am
and what I like to do (which everyone does at that time in the luncheon).
What fun it was to see the surprise on her face when she found out that I am
the drummer she was hearing about! Just priceless! Anyway, we were at the
club where I was introduced to lots of people, and they were happy to see me
join the band, as they obviously like the stuff we're doing.

Krystin, her partner, and I are looking for a house to move into and rent with
an extra bedroom to be made into a music room so that we can get together and
practice regularly. We may do that this weekend. I had gone down the
previous weekend just to meet Krystin. So, I'm looking to move in about 3
weeks. I'm going to move my web site to a permanent web hosting solution,
since I can't keep this one open because of the way Road Runner is set up in
different cities. The web address will be the same, but it'll be housed in a
different company's computer.

I'm leaving my agency this coming Friday. I should be available in the next
few weeks for visiting at your office/home to say bye before I leave town.

Thanks really great news Steph. Don't go forget about us when you're

Best of luck,
Pete
