First post, UK online stores...

First post, UK online stores...

2004-09-01 by Richard Mills

Hi,

My first post so forgive me if i'm repeating anything that has been
said before or stepping on any toes.

I have a DTXpress 2 kit and want to add an extra cymbal (and arm), my
local store in London don't have any PC65 or PC65S, nor the CYAT65
cymbal arm. I don't have the time to ring around every store in
London, so...

Do anybody know of any online stores that mail these? Preferably in
the UK, as I went to www.midwestpercussion.com and although cheap for
the above, they charge £13 delivery from the US.

So any UK websites that anybody know off, I had a look on ebay too but
none on offer...

Thanks,
Richard Mills

Newcastle Drum Centre (www.newcastledrum.co.uk) show them, and I
have heard of people getting them from Piedog (www.piedog.com).
However the big issue in the UK is lead time - you may well be
quoted eight weeks for delivery. No-one keeps them in stock.

You have another issue with US orders - Yamaha (and Roland,
actually) forbid shipping new gear overseas. Each territory has its
own distribution agreements. You would either have to order used, or
have a confederate (as opposed to a Confederate) take the initial
delivery and remail it from the US.

Even with delivery, it will be far cheaper to order from the US. You
can directly map $ to £ one-for-one.

Also, check eBay.com (not .co.uk).

Hi Stewart,

Thanks for the infomation, I have emailed piedog and newcastle for infomation.

There was no luck on ebay.com that would deliver to UK. I don't know
anybody in the US that would remail it to me, so it looks like i'm
stuck with the UK only.

What a pathetic situation.

I might as well put in an order at MidWest and see what happens, the
worst they can do is cancel it...

Thanks anyway,
Richard

By the way, don't forget you will also get charged import duty AND
VAT ... wait for it ... on top of the total cost of the goods plus
shipping.

Well in that case it might be cheaper to order in the uk then! With
just the VAT added on it's only £7 cheaper than PieDog for what I
wanted, plus add the import duty and that will make it roughly the
same i'm guessing...

Think I might wait and see what PieDog/NewcastleDrumCentre have to say...

Thanks again!
Richard

... AND a handling charge for the privilege of taking the duty and VAT
off you - I am not sure what the Post Office charge now but I think it
is around £5.

Keith.
