The IIIS cymbal pads are the new, round ones with the 3-zone
crash/ride. The tom and snare pads are identical.

OK, cool. Do the pie shaped cymbals that come with the II have a
separate bow and edge sound?

***I'm shopping for my first ekit at this time. I've played A drums
for a few years, but not in the last 9 years or so because of their
loud volume and that I've been living in apartments.

I played a II in a store the other day. I liked the feel of the
Yamaha rubber pads pretty much. I liked them more than the feel of
the Roland pads from a TD3 kit I tried before (which would be the
same as their TD6 V-Tour pads.) I thought the Roland ones didn't
have enough rebound like an A drum has.

Tom,

The II comes with two cymbal pad types, the PCY65 (mono pad with bow
only) and the PCY65S (Stereo pad with bow and edge sound).

OK. It comes with one of each. Unless I"m mistaken, the module
on the II and IIS is the same, so I'll assume the II kit cymbals can
be upgraded to IIS types. I would consider that a nice plus to
have that upgrade potential for the future.

Tom,

In the Dtxpress Line there are only three module types, the I, II ,
III(sp). The module for the III and III(SP) are the exact same thing.
The new PCY150S, PCY130S, PCY130 and the RHH130 can all be used with
the II and III modules. They can also be used with the I module,
except that with the PCY150S you will only get the bow and edge to
trigger and not the bell, as the I module does not have any 3 zone
stereo inputs. Only the II and III/IIISP modules have 3 zone stereo
inputs, which are inputs 2, 6 & 7 only. Inputs 1,3,4,5 and 8 are
stereo inputs (two zones, pad and rim) and inputs 9 and 10 are mono
inputs (single zone).
