Hello,

First time poster...just joined on.

I am looking to get an Ekit for practice and to also trigger my BFD samples (by FXpansion). My price range is around $1000-$1400. I have two kits in mind:

Roland TD-3
Yamaha DTExpress IIIse or III

How do the natural sounds compare Roland/Yamaha? I am going to check out both some time next week. I hear the cymbals sound good on the DTXIII, but how about the rest of the kits? toms? snare?

Here is the roland set I am also comparing:

If anybody is familiar with BFD, can you give me some feedback on how both kits work with BFD (do they work well?). I am leaning toward the Yamaha because there is a three zone snare...I believe the TD3 just has a two zone.

WIth the TD3 are you able to get all three snare sounds(hit.rim.sidestick) from BFD, since it is a two zone snare?

also, how does the hihat interact. are you able to get all the different hits? (closed tip, closed shank, half tip, half shank, open tip, pedal)

I apologize for the barrage of questions, but I like to get feedback from actual users before I purchase. Please, if anybody has ANYTHING...feel free to post. I am trying to do as much research as I can on both kits. I have done the searches.

Also, I am looking for more video/audio samples (watched both the Rabb video for Roland and the Namm DTX video, along with the DTXperience.com) and all the mp3s on both the roland and dtxperience sites.

Thanks in advance!
Keith
