A word about Rebound...& a "modification" to pads...

2004-12-15 by zapaxe

After quickly reading the "Round Vs Wedge Cymbals" thread, I got to
thinking...I think someone touched on my thought by saying something
about a "modification"...
I had been noticing that my wedge cymbals on my DTXpress one (wedge,
single & dual) could have better rebound.
About this "modification" I read on the other thread & also
mentioned was a "coating" on another manufactureres e-cymbals...What
if a thin plate/strip of metal was fastened over the rubber wedge
pads (or other)somehow. Wouldn't this make for a better stick
rebound? Has anyone modified their rubber e-cymbals like this?

Note; I bought a heavier pair of sticks recommended by my good
friend (a drummer of nearly 30 years) and have noticed overall a
better rebound - or at least control of - on all my e-pads on my kit.

Though I'm [gasp] a guitarist for nearly 30 years, I've only played
drums for only 4 years or so - and edrums only, so I don't have much
experience with acoustic drums - let alone real cymbals - except for
playing on various drummers kit's in bands I've been in over several
years.
