DTXtreme

2001-05-27 by Rob

Hello, I'm new to this group and new to edrums in general and I
realize this is a DTXpress group but I was hoping to learn from your
experience. I'm looking for an e-kit and I really like the feel of
the DTXtremes, I'm also thinking of maybe a DTXtreme brain with a
Hart kit, and of course I've also looked at those vdrums. I've tried
to find unbiased feelings on the DTXtremes, but that isn't easy to
come by. I haven't been able to find any DTXtreme users groups so I
turned here. Any thoughts on the DTXtreme brain and the kits in
general would be helpful. Thank you for your time.

The DTXtreme doesn't come with mesh pads-- you can add mesh heads to the
pads, but they come with regular heads.

Also, I don't believe that the rim triggers on the dtxtreme pads will work
with either the DTX or DTXpress, but I'm not sure about that.

Hey Rob,
I'v never played a DTXtreme but am planing on buying the mesh pads from it
for my DTXpress. If you go to yahoo clubs (can be found at yahoo's
website) there is an E-drum board that covers every e-drum kit out there!
Welcome aboard!

More than mesh heads but not like an acoustic drum: better response for playing though.
Yamaha has some legal reason (vs V-drums) for using rael heads, but I understand that mesh heads are compatible if you care to fit them after you make your purchase.
So I am told by local shop when asked exactly the same question!

Just checked my DTXtreme brochure.

The Real head pads (RHP120, RHP120SD, RHP100, RHP80) will NOT trigger a
rim sound with the DTXpress or DTX.

In addition, positional sensing is only available on input 1 on the
DTXtreme module

Thanx Mark,
So then does anyone know if the DTXpress will completely work with the DTXtreme's RHP100 (including the rim trigger?)

Re: DTXtreme

2001-05-28 by Rob

I have played the Xtreme's and the read heads feel great but are more
noisy than the mesh heads on the V's (but not too bad). They come
with the Foam to put under mesh heads but are not able to supply mesh
heads due to legal reasons (Roland I believe). Thanks for the quick
responses and thank you for the welcome.
