Buy new KP60 from Yamaha? Or bad idea?

Buy new KP60 from Yamaha? Or bad idea?

2005-05-15 by DSar

Hi folks, I'm a new member. I've been reading the group for a while,
and just bought a used DTXP1 from a ebay, which I'm hoping was a good
deal. Part of the bargain was that the original KP-60 is dead, so I
need to get a new kick trigger. Apparently you can order a new KP-60
from Yamaha for like $20. Wondering: is it worth it? I'm a novice
drummer of limited means and so I don't need super-hi fi equipment
yet, but I also don't want to have to replace the trigger after 3
weeks. I wonder if they've re-engineered it so that the original
circuitry problems (which I've read a lot about here) are less severe?

Or should I just get a KP-65? Or a pintech vertikik from ebay?

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi... I am a DTXPress-I owner in Taiwan.
I just upgraded my KP60 to KP65. I think it's
worth to upgrade KP60 to KP65. In my point of view, KP65 is not too
expensive(about US$80 in Taiwan), and its feel is better than KP60.

The major reason to upgrade is
KP65 support dual-pedal for double bass. :)
