Problems with DTXpress 1 Kick Pad - Can anyone help?

2005-12-15 by daddykingcool

Hi all

My Kick pad has just developed an intermittant fault. It's now
missing many beats (or they come out really quiet) and it's getting
worse - it was all working fine.

I have a DTXpress 1 kit - I wonder if I have damaged it by playing
it too hard.

I have tried some obvious things like chaging the jack lead.

The problem is still there even if I only play the Kick Pad so I
know it's not a cross talk or similar problem - anyway it was
working fine.

I was wondering if I should take it a part and have a look but I do
not want to kill it completely.

Can anyone please help or point me in the right direction if this
has been raised before.

Are there any diagrams available if I do decide to take it apart?

If it is broken can it be fixed or replaced?

Many thanks

There are photos of it in bits in the photos section. It is not
difficult to get apart. From memory, the rubber just peels off and is
relatively straightforward to get back on - it just might take a
couple of goes to get it straight. If it is not working then you have
nothing to lose. Could be a bad conenction, although there is some
foam inside which aparantly breaks down over time as well.

Keith.

Thnaks Keith, I should have pointed out on my first message that it
is a KP60 not a KP65. The pics on the site are for a KP-65. If
there are pics for the KP60 please let me know as I'm probably
looking in the wrong place.

Many thnaks

Hi Andy

What's a Pintech - is this a make / model. Can you buy pad made by a
different manufacturer?

I was thinking about buying a KP-65 - these are now available for
around £45.00 - any views on these.

Many thanks

==> Pintech makes electronic drums among other things. They can be found
at www.edrums.com.

This link shows their electronic drumsets:

I'm not sure of the kickpad model number that I have. Its a couple of years
old. It looks similar
to the set called E-session on the page above.

The main thing about is that you have to change the settings on the DTXpress
to
match the characteristics of the pintech drum. Pintech provided me with the
recommended
settings for the DTX. Those settings worked great.

OK...I'm done sounding like a pintech salesman. I don't work for them. I
just had some
decent luck with their kickpad.

I can't say the same about the snare I got from them. It broke a couple of
times. I must have been
hitting it too hard. Some of the internal wiring came undone. So I
resoldered it and switched to lighter
sticks.

cheers,
Andy
