Looking for idea's to dress up my DTXpress.

Looking for idea's to dress up my DTXpress.

2001-08-14 by Glen Davidson

Hello all form Cajun land.

Has anyone tried making shells that you could set the Yam. rubber
pads in? I've been kicking around a few ideas to make my DTX kit look
better and reflect some stage lighting. What I have in mind is
somthing like what the Roland V-drums look like. I thought possibly
some PVC pipe with some skins or a fancy paint job.
I'm open to any ideas if anyone has any.
Thanks
Glen D.

hi Glen

I use some cheesy toms with mesh heads and triggers, I did it to get
some more pads cheaply, have a look at the photos on yahoo

http://uk.photos.yahoo.com/bc/keena50/lst?.dir=/Cheesy+V%27s&.view=t

I have also seeen a kit where a guy cut an old 16" floor tom in half
to use for 2 bass drums, made the kit look a lot more imposing than
with just the kick tower.

cheers
adam

Hi Glen,
what kind of triggers you've used for your set?
Thanx,
Slava.

I got a pack of piezo transducers and tried different things. some
are taped to the edge of the mesh head, some are in the middle of a
piece of foam glued inside the shell and just touching the underside
of the head.
