Newbie buying 'pre-owned' Xpress III - what to ask?

Greetings all!

I'm looking at a slightly used DTXpress III to purchase privately. 
What questions (beyond the obvious, like 'any issues') should I be 
asking the seller? Any suggestions as to what a used, excellent 
condition kit is worth?

I can't respond to the DTXpress III specifically, but as a point of reference, I purchased a DTXpress II on Ebay about 3 months ago for $580.
