If your drum machine has a midi in port, you just need to match the midi
note numbers between the two modules. I.e. when you hit the snare pad,
if it triggers midi note number 25 in the dtxpress module, when it gets
sent to the drum machine it will also trigger the voice/sound that is
assigned to midi note number 25. So once you map out which midi note
numbers you want to trigger in the drum machine, the you just have to
set each of the dtx pads to trigger the corresponding midi note in the
dtx module.

So if midi note 25 in the drum machine triggers a snare sound, you would
set the snare pad on the DTX to trigger midi note 25.

Is there any way to use the pads or triggers on my Yamaha drum kit to
play the drum kits I built on my drum machines? Pretty much I would
love to be able to play the kit sounds using my pads instead of my
fingers. I hate programing or tapping in the beats. I'd rather build
the sound then use the pads to play the beat. I have MIDI cables but no
clue how that all works. Ive read but im still like lost? HELP

Rob, I must be an idot b/c I still cant get the triggers to play the drums built on the drum machine. It seems to me its pretty straight forward but it dosnt work. Can you perhaps give me a more detailed "how to" or point me towards something free online? I would love to use some of the kits I built on the Roland R8 and the DR5. I hate tapping the beats in or programming them I'd prefer to play them with the DTX kit.
What is it that makes this so hard to pull off? I was able to auto sync up the DR5 with my digital recorder to stop and play at the sametime...whats the deal?
