Cymbal choking

I have an older DTXPress kit, probably the first in the series. Don't really know as I got them used from fellow drummer. My problem is that I have lost the ability to choke my crash from dual pad PCY80s. I had done a factory reset once and don't know if that caused it to go away. Anybody out there know how to restore choking ability?? Thanks Len
