Dead Board

2006-06-14 by xeniaken

My Yamaha DTX drum trigger module gave up the ghost, and they don't
make a replacment board for them any more. Are there other modules
that will be compatable? I don't want to by another drum only to have
it out dated in 6 or 7 years!

No one can say for sure what the future holds for electronic drum modules,
but for compatability and longevity - if you must replace it with something now
- I'd go with a DTXtremeIIs as it has the ability to work with your current pads,
supports Yamaha's new 3-zone pads, has most all of the midi trigger features
from DTX such as alternate mode, plus it has sampling so that you can load
new sounds.

Did you used to have the DTX 2.0? The DTXtremeIIs has an even bigger
mixer and same 2 track sequencer. The screen and panel layout is different
but the functions and terminology are the same. However, DATA created and
saved on DTX 2.0 will likely NOT be compatible, but you could always
recreate your kits in the new format - or just make new ones.

I have the DTXtremeIIs with the new pads and think it's great. I use the
sampling feature and have not been disappointed with the internal sounds
either. The play along to midi files feature right from the memory card is great
fun as well.

Hope this helps!
