just regular drum sounds
2006-07-25 by Thomas's
It was interesting to see the posts from the people
in seach of "Bonham" kit settings. I bought my DTX III as a more
convenient substiturte for a conventional acoustic kit. The bells and
whistles, piano and horn sounds, sfx (and who knows what else lurks in that
brain!) are (to me) more of an inconvience than anything useful because i'm
always pushing buttons, etc., trying to find drum sounds instead of
whatever else. I'm not really interested in finding the sound of a
specific legendary drummer (although that sounds interesting) I just want to
find several different kits that sound the way I want them too for the various
type of music I might be playing. Any tips on getting real drum sounds would be
appreciated.
Question. How many of you use regular cymbals
in conjuction with the DTX III? Here's why I ask. One, they would
probably sound better. Two, the cymbal pads could be utilized as more drum
heads. Negatives. Expense, as well as that would get away from my
original intent in going with the DTX III (and digital drums) which is the
convenience (size, portability, etc.) of them.
Just wanted to post.

I haven't used the amp I bought yet. I
haven't found anyone to play with outside my house so I only practice in
headphones with cd's. The amp I bought when I traded drum kits is a Hartke
bass amp. Fairly good sized one. ; Has anyone used one of
them? I have seen Berringer's mentioned on this list, but haven't heard
one. They were cheaper at the store, but the clerk worked out a deal on
the Hartke. Now, I need to use it!
