it seems the special has got a tp100/120.
Will the red knob be usuable?

I hope the link works (I ran it through Babelfish):

A DTXpress IV to be launched on the 15th December in both special and
standard form. Looks like a cross between the DTXpress & the DTXtreme.
The special gets the RHH130 & different rack. 32 note polyphony. 427
voices. 19 reverbs. 16 character x 2 lines plus a 3 column 7 segment
LED. 8 inputs.

Keith

the cymbals are three zone PCY130SC with cup sound and the module has
the "MOTIF" sounds from the DTXtreme. I cannot find any mention of
the red knob of the TP100, but trigger inputs 1,5,6 & 7 are listed
seprately from 2,3,4 and 8 even though the descriptions are the same,
so who knows?!

I didn't notice at first, but you don't get the TP100 on the STD
version (see bottom picture).

It kinda looks like my modified dtxpress2, except for the hi-hat.......
The Pcy130sc is very interesting, finally something to replace my pcy65s.
Maybe it's time to buy a new module too.

Anyway, thanx

Looking at the back of the new module there are only 8 inputs, but
inputs 2,3,4 and 8 (the toms & kick) are listed as inputs 9/10/11/12
so I assume you can use a Y splitter to expand the inputs to those
channels if you don't want to use a separate rim sound. So, I assume
it will accept either a piezo or rim switch on the connector ring
depending on the trigger settings. It will make the magic box obsolete.

Pirce around 125,000 Yen for the Standard kit and 170,000 Yen for the
Special.

Keith.

I just can't believe that it doesn't have a MIDI In port. I know that
Yamahamer over on the DTXPerience boards fought to keep the feature
in, but I'm guessing it was cut so that they could keep costs down by
using a case similar to the DTXplorer module. Big mistake in my
book. How can it be considered a serious mid-level setup without the
capability of using it with any outboard sequencer.

I'm glad I got a DTX III that works well standalone and with Sonar.
