For opinions on the TD6 try www.vdrums.com
I got the DTXpress kit then replaced the brain with a roland TD8 and
the snare with a PD80.
I find the roland brain is better than the yamaha, better dynamics,
more expression, far better cymbals. This is not to say the yamaha is
bad, I still use it as a practice kit, set up with a few pads, but I
use the roland for all my live stuff.
I have not used the TD6, but my experience with roland suggests it
will give the yamaha a good run for it's money.
The one thing I will say is please try before you buy, as far as I
can tell the way you play makes a big difference to which kit suits
you (even if you have to travel a long way). See if some of the music
shops will mail you a test kit(s) on a sale or hire basis.
Try posting in the drum forums to see if anyone will let you try out
their kit at home ( in exchange for a few beers)
Another option is something like the rhythm traveller kit with mesh
heads and a DDrum brain and triggers.
For a ddrum biased point of view try www.ddrum.com
Cheers
