What pad Can I buy for the 9/10 trigger

What pad Can I buy for the 9/10 trigger

2007-04-01 by derf.florin

Hi again,

I'm now playing with the QY and it works fine except from the fact
that some midi messages are sent from the dtx to the QY and it's
really weird. When I change the kit on the dtx, it also changes the
sound on the QY! If anyone has an idea?

My question is now about the possibility of expanding the kit. What
kind of pad are recommended for the 9/10 trigger? Are roland mesh head
pad compatible? Can I put a 2 zone-pad or even a 3-zone one?

If you have references it would be perfect.

Thanks

I don't know anything about the Qy, but here's an idea. The note
numbers on the DTXpress kits reflect inputs, not distinct sounds. If
you're linking DTXpress note numbers with sounds on the QY, the sounds
might change from kit to kit simply because the sounds associated with
DTX numbers change from kit to kit.

The most sensible pads for 9/10 are either two mono pads via a TRS
splitter or one dual-zone pad (with two separate piezos, not to be
confused with the yamaha/roland piezo, via a TRS splitter. Roland
meshes will work, but traditionally they aren't the best match with
the limited sensitivity of Yamaha modules (Keith might confirm or
disconfirm based on his recent research). A more compatible match
might be the Pintech mesh ConcertCasts, which now carry their own
sensitivity adjustment. It seems to be a direct response to
recommendations from this group in the days when Brian LaRue ran
Pintech's operation and had ties to us (he's now at Taye Drums and has
designed some gear for Taye and Alesis).
