Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi i have a dtxpress III and pc with cubase sx 3 and cool edit

I am a beginner to this so really need help getting midi setup

I have bought midi cables and plugged them in to my audiophile 2496 
soundcard and to the dtx.

i really dont know what to do to set up the instrument so that when 
you hit the drum it records it in the midi track.

its very confusing with selecting channels inputs

basically i need a guide to help me setup my midi kit so please help 
me someone

ok quick update

i have stumbled into being able to get the sounds, to play when i 
pencil them in, on the midi map, and i started using the drump mag 
download from here.

ok but how do i get it to record/register the sound when i hit the 
appropiate drum, cause so far i can only do it with stick tool, and 
manually input notes

does that make sense

anyhelp

also drum maps what are they, what diff do they make
