magic box alternative?

magic box alternative?

2007-05-22 by epvk_jahoe

Hi Keith (and others),

I got this message in the Pintech Yahoo group:

-----------------------------------------

Many of our customers have asked, so I have teamed up with the manufacturer of the
Ultimate Trigger Splitter to offer you guys this great product!!

A standard Y Stereo Splitter Adapter*** will not allow you to use two mono pads on the
Roland TD-6, 8, 12, 20 or the SPD20 pad, but the Ultimate Trigger Splitter will!!! This
great product allows you to split dual zone inputs (that normally require a dual zone pad),
so that you can use two single zone pads!!! What this means is that you can add up to two
different pads to your drum kit, without having to buy another expensive module or MIDI
device!!

Your Ultimate Trigger Splitter comes complete with instructions for optimal use with the
Roland TD6/ 8/ 12 / 20 Modules.

Check it out at http://www.hopedrums.com/Ultimate%20Trigger%20Splitter.htm

------------------------------------------

I guess this is a good alternative to your Magic Box?
I didn't buy one, but I plan to do so - although it seems designed for V-drums I guess it
could equally well work with the DTXP? (assuming it works as is claimed - and if I
understand it right)
What do you think?

Cheers, Erik

Erik,

Yes, EMF posted about it around a week ago. I don't know what's in
it, so I don't know how it works, but I know the Roland and Yamaha
drums work in a similar way, and my box works on Rolands so this
should work on Yamahas. I would be interested to know how well it
works (and what's inside - I hope it isn't a copy of my circuit!).

It is certainly a cheaper alternative, particularly for people living
in the USA. With the dollar being worth around the same as a rupee at
the moment, mine is rather expensive from the UK (only kidding;-)

Keith.
