I have found this site to be useful to get back to basics and back to
drumming.

Here is a site containing 87 free basic drumming lessons, covering the
gamut of styles:

http://www.icanplaydrums.com/members.htm

I can thoroughly recommend it.

They look awesome, the DVDs I mean... for about £90 - that's a lot of lessons, and cheaper than I can get (although there's obviously no interactive feedback) - I really quite fancy investing in them, but has anyone else?

Yes I splashed out on Jack Bennett's UDS2007 DVD set, and the discs
are crammed with lessons. Stuff I only half-learnt when I took up
drumming years ago (a great way to revise the basics!) plus
instruction that I never had before on playing various patterns
around the kit. Very useful indeed! And the best thing is being able
to connect the audio-out from my PC straight into my DTX module: I
can play along with everything Jack does and, at the same time, see
on my PC monitor exactly how he is doing it. There are probably other
good instructional drumming DVDs out there, but this guy really
speaks my language. He doesn't waste my time trying to impress me
with how well he plays, he just gets on with explaining how to do it.
I think you would find having interactive feedback is not necessary -
Jack explains everything extremely well and, if you miss something,
you just rewind the disc and go over it again. And you can, in fact,
email him with questions if you need to.

Thanks, that's useful to know. I haven't got a drum tutor at the
moment and something like that sounds useful for me. It is
interesting what you say about "showing off" - quite a few clips I
have seen of educational drum DVDs seem to be just a vehicle for the
person to show off.

Keith.
