Missing / skipping kick beats on DTX1 poll results and my solution

Missing / skipping kick beats on DTX1 poll results and my solution

2008-06-27 by Tom

Hi
Ok I closed the poll on this as it seems everyone who was gonna contribute has done so...
AND I found a solution that worked...

My solution was to replace most of the dd-502 pads with pintech pads. I guess this just
goes to show that you get what you pay for! or less!! lol

I got a pintech set of kick pad, double trigger 10" snare and 3 10" tom's on ebay, and went
to hope drums to get a video on setting the dtxiii triggers for pintech and used those
settings on my dtx1. It works beautifully now!!! There is no missing... none! Not even
when I hit snare, tom and kick at the same time(a sure way to get it to miss the kick with
the old kick pads!)

The mesh heads are quiet and feel so much nicer than the plastic pads. Just like a real
drum! I'm Totally impressed! My pintech cymbals are also working great since I got the
hope drums settings for them too!

now I need a 14" snare and I'll be happy for a while (and a snare stand) lol

btw the poll didn't show much. 21% have not had problems with it...9% did have problems.
15% had the dtx1 6% dtxii and 9%dtxiii and 0% had the dtxiv
the one person with the pintech was me! and I no longer have the problem! Yippie!
18% have the kp65 kick pad...
So my conclusion is that trigger settings can help if it's a kp65 or 60, changing to a dtxiv
could help, changing to a better kick pad! (pintech) is the most costly(other than changing
the controller to dtxiv), but will definately correct the problem and give the most
satisfaction! lol I am really glad I changed most of the pads!

anyway have a look at the result to get more out of it!

I bought a pintech snare and kick drum to go with my dtxpress I system.

I bought the kick drum because the one that came with the system died.
I bought the pintech snare because I liked the feel and the 'rim'.

With the proper settings, they work pretty well. One complaint is that
for live situations they aren't loud enough. I've played with various
settings
but haven't found a usable combination.

Modifying the gain settings didn't do enough.

They work fine for at home, under headphones.

If you find a way to balance them with the volume of the
other pads, let me know.

cheers,
Andy

Gee, the subject doesn't match the message but hey!

This is be a "duhhh" type question but have you tried lowering the
volume on the other parts of the set to match the new stuff and then
raising the volume of your amplification?

Just for interests sake, what do you use for amplification?
