Anyone have a simple schematic (or explain) how a the 130s is wired with the choke switch? Thought I might make a couple for fun.

The third zone is the same but with a 10k resistor in series with the switch (so both switches effectively connect to the ring). The module detects the 10k resistor. If you are planning to make your own cymbals, you may find some useful tips here: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/DIY-edrums/ Keith.

One other point which you will find out when researching DIY edrums - people making their own cymbals (or snares/toms) find it tricky to duplicate the rim switch so often use two piezos to get dual zone cymbals. With many modules this causes a problem because you need to use two inputs to use two piezo signals. The DTXpander circuit in the files section here turns two piezo signals into a single piezo signal plus rim switch so you only need one input. Keith.

Keith, Thanks for all the replies! Was curious how the 130S was wired. From the pictures it looked like there were 2 seperate ribbon switches but couldn't reason out why... Curious, does the 10K resistor side control the choke or the second voice? Chris --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "Keith" <keith@...> wrote:

I am actually thinking of the 3 zone PCY130SC/PCY150S. I am not sure if the PCY130S is actually only two zone. If you see two rim switches in the pictures just going round the rim, I think they are just connected together. The third zone would be the bell. I don't have the PCY130S but I think the 10k side just does the third voice (bell). The main rim switch does the second voice (edge) & choking. Keith.
