Looking to trade in my sonor double pedal for a single. ANy advice on what you guys use and what you recommend for my dtxpress iii would be gratefully received. Well I say you guys but I guess I mean Keith as he seems to be the only one reading, so Keith over to you.

There are more people reading this, but maybe he has tweaked the drums the most. So that is why he can answer better that any of us. For the pedals ... I am using either my double Iron Cobra (mostly when recording something), or an old Pearl single pedal when I am at home.

There are around 2500 members on this group. I think on the technical stuff I usually get in there first and as I have been experimenting with the DTXpress for a number of years (and on this group for a long time) and so I have seen a lot of the questions before and know where to find the answers. For things like drum pedals - I cannot really recommend one. I bought one with the kit years ago - it works fine - but I cannot say if its good or bad as I have nothing to compare with. Keith.

I use an el cheapo $100 double kick pedal I bought from Guitar Center... A PDP (Pacific Drums). When I sold my acoustic kit, I didnt even think to keep my frickin pedals or throne, so I had to buy that once my DTXpress IV arrived. D'OH! In all honesty, it is just as good, if not better, than my Iron Cobra that I had. I can't tell a difference, and it was about $300 cheaper. +100 on the beater advice... use the plastic side & get some flam slams or evans patches, 2 patches fit perfect on the KP65 for the double kick users.... I need to replace my patches as after 2 years of use they are hanging off.

I think more importantly is your ability to play the drums... try to think like this.... if you learn how to play drums well you will have discovered what type of pedal action you like, the kind of wood you prefer in your shells, the sound of cymbals you want, etc. I'm sure you could take some of the greatest drummers in the world and give em a crappy set & set-up and they will still sound killer! The pedal is only so helpful... Save your money or buy nothing more costly than $150 U.S. dollars. Now if your already an accomplished player... why are you asking us lol. --- On Thu, 1/27/11, denim_demon2003 <denim_demon2003@...> wrote:

> I use my trusty Pearl Powershifter I tried a few and ended up with that. I have size 14 feet and in order to kick with my heel I have to play without shoes so I can put the chain between my toes, so that's very much not idea, but I haven't come across a larger footplate and I do love the pedal and I tried a few before that I really didn't like. We've had a Gibraltar double pedal to use for single and double. It was on sale at the time. Works at least as good or better than the original. NOTE... We have pintech toms and bass and it works good, although the bass has been holed a couple of times(heavy hitters I think) and we have since replaced the mesh and put a couple of mylar protection circles where they hit. Thanks everyone. Using Gumtree I set up a swap today locally, swapped my double sonor for a dw9000. What a great pedal. Ordered some falam slams tonight. Thanks again. -- >
