2013-02-19 by Darrrr

Hello. i am owner of dtxpress IV special edition. however bass pedal doesn't meet my expectations and i would like to buy this one
http://www.drumcenter.cz/eshop/yamaha-dtx-kp-125w-pad-pro-bd/produkt-66117.html?PHPSESSID=89flpheqecns03s3ibr2ii06j3

will it work just fine with my drumkit? Propably yes but i'd prefer to make sure before i buy it.

All I can say is the same as you - "probably, yes". The manual for the pad http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/ssdrums/kp125w_en_om_a0.pdf doesn't seem to give any reason why it would be a problem.

It is a single piezo pad so the only thing I could think of is the signal being too high/low due it it not being rubber based but they seem to have an adjustment pot to help with that, on top of the adjustments in the module.

Similarly, double triggering could be an issue but there is already adjustment in every module to handle that.

The thing that makes me think the pad is a little different in its signal is that the DTX900 manual has specific KP125W and KP125 settings in the trigger menu, although there is nothing to say that is really doing anything different - possibly just listing pad types specifically rather than saying set KP for kick pad which is what the older modules do.

Some places say it works with other modules:

http://www.rmcaudiodirect.com/Yamaha-KP125W-Electronic-Kick-Drum-p/kp125w.htm although that doesn't mean they have actually tried it.
