Communication error

Oh boy, my OCD is kicking in(obsessive-compulsive, etc.....I must be trying to corner the market on non-working DTXtreme modules, well at least my old DTX 2.0 still works...so far! Just bid (and won-no-one else bid after I did maybe for good reason) a DTXtreme iis that is displaying "communication error" on startup. I haven't gotten it yet, so not sure what will work or not-but anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? I've studied all manuals, my service manual (yep bought one for the other DTXtreme still working on that) but nothing. Of all the error messages in the manual-this isn't one of them. Oh well, looks like I'm stuck with another technical foobar.
