yet another question about the gm features on the dtxpress

yet another question about the gm features on the dtxpress

2002-01-19 by otacon28us

hello all,
i have recently been playing around with the gm voices in
my module via- a midi keyboard and have come up with some cool
stuff,my question is if i recorded a track on the modules sequencer
can i change the voice of the second track i want to record (this
will be another keyboard track) without changing the voice on the
first track that i have allready recorded?????????? an example would
be i have a piano track, and i want to add a synth part to it on the
second track

thanks ,

Sure, you can, you just have to choose another midi channel for the second
track.(You must change the channel of your keyboard too in order to record
your new track on the selected channel). For example, put your keyboard on
the first midi channel, select the instrument you want on this channel in
the song menu and then record your track on the track one of the sequencer.
Then select the second midi channel in the song menu, choose the instrument
you want and put your keyboard on the second midi channel(you will keyboard
will send midi notes through the second midi channel)and record your track
on the track 2 of the sequencer(select the track 2 on the rec sreen). The
DTXpress have 16 midi channels so you can use 16 differents instruments on a
song (with the merging track option).
I hope my explanations are clear.

hey thanks again, the instructions are very clear, but my keyboard
isn't a very good one (it's a casio) i just have it to see if it is
worth putting out the money for a good one,and i'm seeing that i
would probably get some good use out of a good one..the keyboard i
have now just runs on a single midi channel, and doesn't have any
adjustments for switching the midi channel that it is on,so i'll have
to try this out on my guitarists keyboard, but thanks again for the
info....
