Introduction and of course questions

Hi Guys, I'd like to introduce myself. I used to play my drums daily (orchestra/marching/stage/home bands) but sometime during college I lost track of it (apartment living I guess). My acoustic set is out of tune in the corner of the cold basement, so outside of a quarterly jam at some friends houses I never play anymore. I just picked up the Yamaha DTXpress set, thinking having a silent, always tuned set in the warm upstairs would get me practicing again. I was right, its a blast. My set never sounded so good either (especially to people outside of the headphones). This is a great value for the money. My only complaints I guess would be that the snare trigger isn't going to cut it. Just doesn't seem to have enough dyanmic range or different sounds. I'll be looking forward to upgrade or "tuning" recommendations. And the while the set is silent to my neighbor's dogs, my wife downstairs says it sounds like the house is crashing down. Need more carpet I guess? I'm also wondering if there's a program that I can run on my laptop to interface with this set. Something so I can edit the voices without clicking around the pushbutton interface? What can Cakewalk or other products do for me? And what are those .syx files in the Files section? That should be enough for my first post! ;) -Ken in Boston (This is my second Yamaha, the first being a very battered WR400 dirtbike. Their products take a beating. :)
