Question about High hat controller pedal.

2002-09-24 by saadrummer

Hello everyone! unfortunately my DTXpress module is dead because of
an outdoor gig ( the rain sucks! ) but anyways I ended up buying the
Roland V-drum TD-8 module.. I hope you guys don't think I am a
traitor! :) anyways I was wondering, all the pads from my DTXpress
work except for the high hat controller pedal, that doesn't work at
all.. Does anyone know if there are any special settings I am
supposed to use?.. any help would be awesome, and thanks again in
advance!, raj

Hi Raj,

Sorry to hear about the DTXpress module - if you want
to get rid of the carcas, I could use that little
piece of plastic that covers the display - mine had a
run in with the business end of a drumstick and is
cracked.

Anyway, I know that to make some pedals (Pintech and
Roland seem to be among them) work on the DTX series,
an adapter cable needs to be used to switch from their
type of circuitry to one that the DTX uses. Logic
indicates that there may well be someone that makes
one to go the other way, but not all things are
logical. I can suggest two sources - first I would try
the V-Drums forum ( http://www.vdrums.com/ ) then if
they don't have any ideas maybe Ed at Drumbalaya.com
could help.

My hh60 high hat controller went south too. If you can't make it work, I found a page on Yamaha's website called "Virtual Warehouse" where they had scratch n' dent components (http://www.yamaha.com/pacwarehouse/vw_drum.htm) but it wasn't available when I tried it today. A few weeks ago I called my local drum shop to order one through that site and they quoted me $60. I got lucky when it showed up. It was actually a brand new, out of the box HH65 (better designed and sturdier than the HH60) which they honored at the agreed upon price. It works fine with my DTXpress.
Good luck.

Guys,

This is *not* verified, but the Roland modules accept a mono 1/4"
while the Yamaha uses a stereo 1/4". When I bought my HH80 pedal off
Ebay, the guy included a "Roland adaptor". This was basically a
Radio Shack stereo 1/4" to mono 1/4" adaptor. Hope that helps!

Also, look on Ebay. They usually have pretty good deals on stuff. I
picked up my HH80 virtually new for $55 + ship. For some reason, the
demand for Yamaha stuff is very low, so hardly any people ever bid
on them...

    clem..
