Headphone volume level, and output!

Headphone volume level, and output!

1999-11-22 by sanctum@saqnet.co.uk

The drum voice volume level can be improved by setting all the
attenuations to high.
Of course this won't affect the crash, hi hat, or anything in 9/10.

But a far more anoying point,
The haeadphone and steroe out carries the same signal!
This means that the aux in comes out not only through the headphones,
as you aould want, but also through the stereo output,
which you certainly don't want.
Similarly the click is sent full belt down the stereo out!

Please, someone, tell me there is a fix!

I'm contacting Yamaha today about this, because it makes the unit almost
useless as a live tool, I may as well have bought a trigger to midi
converter for a fraction of the price!

Anyway, I'll let you know if Yamaha have an answer.

I don't have any answers for you but I can say that the headphone/click
thing peeves me a little. It wouldn't have cost any extra to put an on/off
switch in there that shut off the click to the stereo outs and just kept it
in the headphones. I was wanting to record to a click. Now I'll have to
MIDI in to the computer, then rerecord to wav (which might be smarter
anyway) but that feature is common and wouldn't have raised the price at all.

Another thing I wanted to bring up is this. Has anyone noticed a
high-pitched squeeling noise comingfrom the module? It's coming from mine.
It's not real obvious unless you have the volume up very loud through an
externalamp. It changes pitch as I push up and down on the hihat
controller. If anyone else notices this, please let me know.

Giles and I have uploaded some patches to the web sight at onelist. I'm
interested in comments on them and hope that some more of you put your
patches up.
