TR-808 / TR-909 kit ??

TR-808 / TR-909 kit ??

2000-02-07 by Mels Nieuwenhoven

Hello Community . .

Another question . .
Does any of you have (or know of) a TR-808 and a TR-909 kit for the DTXpress?

I like to use these as a basis and to enhance them with the far more
superiour sounds of the DTXpress, but keeping it close to TR like sounds.
At the moment I am partially done with a TR-808 like thing, but I thouyght;
hey, maybe someone on the list has already done so.

regards,

Mels

Re: TR-808 / TR-909 kit ??

Good questions.

1. Cakewalk INS file. I'm a Cakewalk user but I
haven't set up an INS file because I record the
DTXpress as Audio. That way I don't have to hook the
brain up each time I want to play a song. It's also
easier to master songs to CD by having all my tracks
as Audio.
But I can see the point of having an INS file - so
unless anyone else comes up with one, I guess it's
down to you.

2. TR-808. Hmmm. The DTXpress has some onboard sounds
that come close, but you'll never get that classic
analogue sound. Plus, you're gonna need a lot of pads
to get all 16 TR-808 sounds. The thing is, there's no
way of downloading samples to the DTXpress (*big*
omission, Yamaha - but it keeps the price down). The
onboard sounds will just have to do for now. If you
get close, email me the SYX file and I'll put it on
the website.

Good luck with both these endeavours.
