anyone purchase from musicansbuy.com?

anyone purchase from musicansbuy.com?

2003-01-20 by tempdir <tempdir@yahoo.com>

Hi

Im new to the list as I am just getting ready to purchase the DTXII
as my first ever drum kit.

Question for anyone who has purchased the kit from musicansbuy.com.
They seem to have a great deal going on now where they are throwing
in some extras (headphones, kick pedal, throne). Can anyone speak to
the quality of these items - especially the headphones and the
throne?

Thanks for your time,
David

Hi David,

The going price for the DTXII is $999/1000. The extras look like a
good deal. The Yamaha pedal is pretty good; it lists for $100, and
usually sells for $70 or so. The throne is the generic stool type,
with a stuffed leather cushion. It resembles the Pacific bottom of
the line model, which goes for about $30. If you aren't having any
trouble with your back, and you're familiar with this type of
backless, circular throne, it might do fine. I don't know much about
the Apex phones, except that they're a closed design, which is a
good start from the output of the DTXpress module, which tends to be
a little shy of volume. Even if you decide to buy an external
headphone amp or mixer later, you'll still need phones. They may be
perfect for your purposes, or adequate. In either case, you have
little to lose. As far as total price is concerned, check for the
shipping charge and make sure that you're not getting an extra hit
there. Musicansbuy advertises free shipping right now, but it
usually doesn't apply to electronic drumkits. The only other place
that I know selling the DTXII with extras is Riks Music. You could
check out their site, too. They usually have great prices. Maybe
you'd like their extras (although they may be the same ones) and
total price better.

Ed

I printed out that web page and took it to my local music shop to
see if they could match the deal. They told me that most of the
stuff was cheap stuff, but maybe thats because they didn't have the
same stuff, I don't know. Maybe the bass pedal is OK and maybe the
cd rom and book could be useful but the stool and headphones are
prolly not all that great. Anyhow, they ended up giving me a
discount on an iron cobra twin pedal instead of all that stuff so it
worked it out great!
