DTXpress2 Drum Rack

DTXpress2 Drum Rack

2003-02-11 by Brett <baaron_123@yahoo.com>

just a quick question for anybody that may have tried to expand or
add-on to their kit. Has anyone tried using other tom holders or
cymbal attachment clamps other than the yamaha type such as Gibraltar
or Tamas'? If so, what works? Thanks guys!

I just ordered Gibraltar clamps and another rack tube
to add on another module. I am also reinforcing it
with another leg, at the direction of Ed at
Drumbalaya.com. You can contact Ed or Charlotte
...they are VERY helpful, and will give you ideas on
what works. they helped me a great deal. Jade

Hi Brett,

I'll agree with Jade (Gibraltar clamps are a good
thing), and also say that enhancing the stability of
the rack is important too (as Jade pointed out)-
especially as you add more stuff to it. The Yamaha
rack system is designed for the components it came
with, it might not be strong enough for other gear
without also adding strength to it. Walt

A Gibraltar Road Series Multi Clamp (SCGRSMC) or Power Rack Series
(SCGPRMC) Multi Clamp and a Yamaha CL940 or CL940L Tom Arm work very
well. Most any of the cymbal arms mated to either of the above multi
clamps work too.

Hi Jade,

Not for a living, just as a result of upgrading.
Every once in a while I get enough time to sort
through and reduce the inventory. Walt

Yes, the Gibraltar clamps work fine; I ordered a few through
Drumbalaya myself.

My goal was to replace ALL the clamps because my kit travels a lot,
and the screws in the clamps just don't take a lot of wear and tear.
I eventually broke down and bought a Titan rack off ebay. Doing this
was cheaper than replacing all the clamps.

The downside is that the all steel rack with metal clamps is one
heavy sucker compared to the RS80.

However, it's dependability is worth it.
