i'm trying to control a softsynth from the dtxpress with no luck. i'm not getting any midi coming into the computer. i'm sure the cable is good, as well as the interface . . . is there a menu where i must manually turn on midi out? this kit is here at the studio on loan, so i don't have a manual. thanks, chris deckard saint louis, moe

I would do a factory reset on the module and then see if it starts working. Also, from a previous post, here's all the manuals: DTXpress Owner's Manual http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/ssdrums/DTXPRESSE1.pdf DTXpress Reference Guide http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/ssdrums/DTXPRESSE2.pdf DTXpress II Owner's Manual http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/ssdrums/DTXPRESSIIE1.pdf DTXpress II Reference Guide http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/ssdrums/DTXPRESSIIE2.pdf These are in PDF format and you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print them. Acrobat can be downloaded free here... http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobatreader/win/5.x/5.1/AcroReader51_ENU_full.exe Once you have Acrobat Reader installed, you can print the manuals. :) -- Vern Graner CNE/CNA/SSE | "If the network is down, then you're Senior Systems Engineer | obviously incompetent so why are we Texas Information Services | paying you? Art, We didn't mean to ignore you--crisis, you know. You can get a copy of the manual in the links section. The utility section will probably get you what you need. Just some small things to check first: 1. in the back of the brain there are a little switch, make sure its on midi. 2. the cables should be as the the midi in should go to the midi out on the brain and so on. --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "liberatusvirus <liberatusvirus@y...>" <liberatusvirus@y...> wrote: > I mean, Chris, sorry. > > --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "Art <neverthoughtidbe@y...>" > <neverthoughtidbe@y...> wrote: > > > > i'm trying to control a softsynth from the dtxpress with no luck.

What kind of sound card are you using, is it capable of handling MIDI voices? I renetly had to upgrade my sound card so that i could also run mine into my PC for recording purposes.
