Assigning MIDI note numbers on DXTpress II's

Assigning MIDI note numbers on DXTpress II's

2003-02-26 by Walt

Hi All,

I just got of the phone with Martin (he says Hi
everyone), and we have confirmed that the xpress II
uses the Drum map the same way that the xpress I did.
He tested driving a MIDI note number (from his
external source) that was not assigned to a pad, and
was also able to assign any xpress sound to that note
number - all through the Drum Map - not through the
voice menu.

What this confirms is that the process we used on the
xpress I to set up a PM-16 for example, should be the
same for xpress IIs.

UNH - the only thing Martin could suggest for you is
to go through a reset of your xpress II (be sure you
copy your user settings first). When he was working
with Jade he found that a reset was necessary, as the
xpress II was not responding to anything on channel 10
(this is why he had changed local control, and had
Jade plug MIDI out to MIDI in on the xpressII - to see
if it was responding) - the reset enabled the xpress
II to respond to channel 10.
If that doesn't take care of it, Martin says give him
a call and he'll work with you.

I'm going to call Martin anyways, I need to personally talk to him.
