Getting new kit to match song

Getting new kit to match song

2003-03-15 by Nicholas Carroll

Hi, guys. I posted this message last week, but didn't get any feedback. Can anyone tell me how to permanently link a particular kit with a song I have programmed? Each factory-set songs is linked to a kit, so I figured there should be a way. Any song I have programmed always seems to default to Kit No. 40 GM STD 1, which means I have to spend time clicking that kit button until the desired kit is displayed. Has anybody had this problem, and worked through it?

Hi Nick,

I'm definitely not the best person to answer your question, because
I have never used the Song Mode, but I'll give it a try. I have two
questions: First, is your UT MIDI SETUP in the utility menu set for
native or GM? I'm not sure that this will make a difference, but
it's worth a try. Second, are you trying to associate a song with a
user kit or a default kit? If a default kit, then maybe if you save
a change to it, then the associated kit will stick with that song.

Nick,

I tried to give you an answer to your question a while ago, but I
wasn't confident about it. You never returned, so I'm not sure
whether the problem has been solved. In case it hasn't, you should
check the Program Change Table kit assignment in the utilities menu
(I originally sent you to the next page, MIDI Mode, which still is
relevant). If the kit that you want isn't selected for the program
change number, then playback might default to kit 40. I've heard of
people setting the number to "none" to avoid any mistakes.
