sequencing

OK guys. This is a little off the beaten track, but I need some
insight.
My bass player and I have been having a hell of a lot of trouble
finding competent musicians to fill out our band. In the past, we have
sequenced a few needed parts. We programmed them painfully on a
low-end Yamaha keyboard. I put a click track on one side of the
stereo, the needed parts on the other side, sent me the click side, the
other side tothe PA, and we were off! We would like to be able to use
commercially available sequences.
Does anyone have any suggestions about the best hardware/software to
make this as easy (and inexpensive)as possible? I think, rather than
having the computer/sequencer on stage, I would like to put everything
on CD, grouped in sets, to play as needed. We do a show, without much
variation from the set-list. but a second CD player would alow us to
do a request or two, without interrupting the show too much.
Thanks in advance.
Scott
