Thank all of you for being NICE! :)

Thank all of you for being NICE! :)

2003-04-02 by Vernon Graner

I just wanted to say a heart-felt THANK YOU to all of you on this list!

I am on quite a few other lists for the various hobbies I follow and I
have to say, without a doubt, that this list has the most helpful and
most tolerant people I have *ever* seen! I can't tell you how many times
the other lists I'm on have burst into flames and the S/N ration goes
into the toilet. This group has never done that and I know I can always
open this folder and find people talking politely and with good spirits
about the things we all enjoy. KUDOS to you all!

Vern

PS: Can you tell I just opened another email batch from another list
thread that left me smoking from the flames? :D

damn busy i'd actually be on here alot more (work sucks, but you
gotta love the $$$$) just a little update for a few members on here
that i have spoke with in the past.. the newer kit configuration is
forming togther well,and i m getting the balance of acoustics,and e-
drums into my configuration almost to where i want it, the bands
moving along well too, and i should have my own cd done later in the
year (yes there's gonna be some dtxpress stuff on it)... more
later.. i miss the hell out the group.. wish there was 8 days in a
week,so i'd have a little down time.. great to see a ton of new
people on here though...

rock on' everyone,

Hey sam! This group is so cool because all of us in it are so cool
and I really feel everyone here understands each others passion for
playing drums and making music. I feel like I belong here! Sam you
were bidding on the dtxtreme module on ebay right? I was too, under
the name of oms., but it went to high for me! :( I also saw you
bidding on a dtxv2.0. You win that one?? Good luck!

Sam,

If you're still out there, good to hear from you. Last time we
talked you were in the beginning stages of the acoustic/electronic
collaboration and working on the CD at your singer's studio. If
you're still interested in the Visu-lite hi hat, contact Walt or me
offline, or check back within the next two weeks. We'll have a
report on it. When we switch to 8-day weeks, maybe you can join us
again from time to time to give us the benefit of your insights and
information. Are we going to get a small sample of the CD?

Re: Thank all of you for being NICE! :)

yeah ,
i've been really at a loss for time lately.. when time
allows i have been hard at work with my acostic/e-drum
conversion ,and getting everything right where i want it to be ..
i'm just getting all of the final things prepped for going into the
studio full blown next month.. i have gotten a few things done so
far,but i really want to focus on doing the whole cd.. i will
definately throw some sound bites up on the group, and will be
putting mp3's up on my website when it's completed.. there's alot of
cool things that i want to put on the cd,so alot of the time has
been spent on arranging how to fit all of my ideas on one cd,but i
think we got a great game plan together on it ,and it will hopefully
be something great that i can share with others..i actually have one
song that will be entirely done using all of the voices in the
dtxpress (a bass line,acoustic guitar track,keys,and synth,some cool
loops, and sound effects, and of course an #@$%load of drums) i've
spent about 4 months writing this one so it should be a great jam
when it's recorded.. i really do miss being on the group though, and
all of the great people on here as well. you just can't find this
kind of helpful info. from so many great people all under one roof
so to speak..

newer members as well as everyone else should really feel fortunate
that in times like there are out there today that we can all share a
common bond, and be able to offer info.,advice, and support to all of
our fellow e-drummer brothers and sisters on this group..this truly
is a great e-world we live in here..

hey,
yeah i definately agree 100% on that .. the group just seems
to have more of a band of togetherness feel on here than alot of
other groups.. i was bidding on the dtxtreme module, but i didn't get
back to it in time.. before i spent alot on one i'd like to demo one
though, and know more about it.. i did bid on the dtx 2.0 i just
wanted to get my hands on one of those for the fact that you can
stack more voices on each other, plus when you're doing a piano
line,or a bass line on one pad you can get 5 key changes ot of
it,plus the couple more tracks that you can record on the
sequencer .. and that seems really useful to me as far as when i'm
writing stuff.. but i didn't get back to that one either in time..
sooner or later i will get my hands on one though.. gotta run for
now..

later,
        sam(otacon28)

How I play Live..

2003-04-10 by Alex

There has been some discussion on here about how folks set up thier
kits. Well I thought I would chime in and describe my live rig.

First off, I replace my snare pad with a real snare, that has a D-
DRUM trigger on it. The snare then has a nice live shound as well as
whatever sample it triggers in the DTXpress. It is important to mike
the snare and mix it in, otherwise there is weird delay between the
stage and the speakers which sounds like crap!

Then I remove the crash pad, and replace it with a real crash
symbol. Same thing, make sure it's miked.

I have found that these two things are all I really need to get a
good live sound, though I have occasionally added a ride..
