As I'm sure everyone will post, there is a problem with the volume of the unit, the drum volume is significantly lower than either the auxiliary input volume or click track. This means that when you listen to yourself through your favourite headphones, even with the volume on full and other volumes turned down, the overall level is still low, allowing you to still hear yourself actually hitting the rubber pads.
A good pair of headphones somewhat moderates this, but there is a cure, Locked away somewhere in the little orange box is a volume option for drum channels, which is set at a default of arround 100, this can be pushed to up to 120 giving the much needed boost in drum volume. Unfortunately I forget where it is, I only found it once and didn't make a note of it, I think it was either in a Midi menu or song menu, I'm sure with a little more time on my hands I could be more helpfull here, but there's the bait, maybe someone else can chase it down.

Enjoy your DTXpress.

I have just started to play my new DTXPRESS kit and
have also found this problem. Paticularly on the ride
cymbal voices. If someone knows how to increase the
internal default volume of the kit so it is more in
line with the other input volumes, ie like the aux
setting I would really really like to know.
I have found out how to adjust individaul voices of
the pads but even at there maximum settings I have
found they are to low and you hear more of the stick
hitting the rubber pad than the produced noise you
would like to hear.

I have just purchased the Sennheiser hd25 headphones,
this was the only change I have made and the volume
and quality of the drum sounds has improved
dramatically, I no longer need to run the aux level at
such a low volume to compensate for the low volume of
the kit. I also can hear more clearly the kick and
ride cymbal. NOW I am satisified!!
