Bass drum pad

Bass drum pad

2000-07-09 by thoughtwar@juno.com

This may sound a bit odd, but I was wandering if anyone has ever tried
using a one of the normal 8" pads as a bass drum pad. It occurs to me
that it wouldn't be that hard to hook up by sacrificing an aluminum arm
or two (or buying additions--keeping the kick in place may be a different
story). If no one has tried it out, I'll experiment with it and see how
it goes. Incidentally, I now have two drum triggers which I found easy
to hook up and use through the 9/10 jack. If anyone is considering
trying them out, I say go for it--they're fairly cheap and easy to use--a
good way to layer voices. One other thing: has anyone had trouble with
their drum sticks tearing up their rubber pads? It occurred to me that
the splinters on sticks that happen naturally while playing acoustically
may be able to harm the rubber. Anyone?
Peace,
Aaron

Aaron,

I'm still using the same sticks I bought nine months ago. I thought
splintering was a thing of the past.
