Couple Of Questions...

Couple Of Questions...

1999-12-01 by eyemaster69@xxxxxxx.xxx

I have a couple of unrelated questions for the group...first, did you purchase your kits from the local music store or did you order mail order them? second, regarding recording songs to the computer...what hardware (PC, soundcards, etc...) & software do you use and what would you recommend for the entry-level/first time home studio? Thanks for the feedback!

I got my kit from Musicians Friend. Decent price, free shipping and no
interest for 6 months.

I use a SoundBlaster Live Value card which I'm fairly pleased with. I'm no
hardware expert but it does the job for me. I got it for $60 at a computer
show. I like using SoundFonts which turns your computer into a sampler,
sort of.

For software, I use SonicFoundry's ACID Pro and Cubase VST for tracking
and sequencing and SoundForge for audio sweetening. I also toy with
several other gizmos like Stomper and VAZ for synthesis.

Bought my DTXpress mail order, very very cheap cheap.
Then had problems after sale, not good at all - much cussing and swearing.

As for home studio, well I use soundblaster AWE64 and q-bass/cakewalk, depending on my mood, also Acid if I'm getting trancey. so much home studio software out there, difficult to pic a clear winner, personal choice and which you find easiest to get into.
