This is the latest. I am still awaiting the last PCY65S which will
fit on the right of the kit just to the left of the barpad BP80. I am
still tweaking the cymbals/bell sounds, which will go on forever, I
am certain of that.

The next additions will be on the recording hardware/software side.
Unless something really cool comes out of NAMM - Summer 2003 (Three
zone cymbal PCY150????????????), I don't think I add much more.

Thats really cool looking oldguy! I'd been waiting to see phase
III! I also want to add the bell pad to all my cymbals, that looks
pretty professional I'd say. I was going to ask if it was hard
getting to your three modules but I saw that one photo and I guess
it isn't! Nice set, and I know you say your done with it, but I
don't believe any drummer that says that! :)

I shouldn't think you can!

My original msg didn't post, so I'll write it again! Your set looks
really cool oldguy! I too am going to place bell pads on all my
cymbals, I've always wondered how that would look and it looks very
professional. I was going to ask if it was hard to get to your
three modules but I guess its not eh! I know you said you wouldn't
add anything else but I never believe drummers when they say that! :)

Old Guy:
That is most certainly impressive, and it looks like a ball to play
on. Will it ever leave the house, or is it for home use only?

Thanks.
I don't think my wife believes me either. But since all the inputs jacks on
all three modules are being used, further expansion could only occur by
adding a fourth module.

Thanks.
Now that the design and construction phase are over, I can now really start
to concentrate on having fun.

One fun thing that I had in mind when laying this set out somewhat
symmetrically was doing something that would be nearly impossible to do with
my old acoustic set, mirror image kits. I am setting up kits for
right-handed playing and kits for left-handed playing, so that I can learn
to play songs left-handed dominant or right-handed dominant. So if I can
just figure out the best way to setup the barpad to change kits INC/DEC on
all three modules at one time, I could theoretically, play first part of
song right-hand and second part left-hand, to achieve greater limb
independence. Yeah, I know sounds stupid, but when your not playing
professionally, you can let you mind (senile??) run wild with ideas. Like
the two snare drums, side by side, three hi-hats, etc.

Stephen,

It is a permant fixture of the house, kind of like this old timer. Had it
been meant for mobility, I would have used multi-conductor cables and
multi-pin plugs for the cabling system and reduced the number of pads by at
least half. As far as being a ball to play.....let's just say that now that
it is setup, sleep consists of about 5 hours a night instead of the usual 7
hours.

Not even remotely stupid. In fact, to take an example Bill Bruford
now sets up his kit symmetrically. Not quite in the same way as
yours.

Check it out here:
http://www.billbruford.com/equipment/index.html

... and read (a little) about it here:
http://www.billbruford.com/bill/faq.html#12

It's not even arranged melodically. The final enabler for this was
the advent of remote hi-hats. With electronics, we kinda get remote
hi-hats for free!

Hey Vern,

Not much activity there either. I think it is just the summer time thing
that happens this time of the year.
