adding double kick to DTX2

adding double kick to DTX2

2003-05-28 by fezzasus

i would like to add a double kick pedal to my dtx2. however the
dtx2 has a very small pad making it impossable to use two
beaters. this leaves me with a few options, buy another pad and
have two seperate kick tiggers and two seperate pedals, or get a
larger pad and use a double pedal.

as ive only been playing drums for a fairly short time, perhaps
some more experianced people might be able to tell me which
is the best option

please be kind with me, im a new member.

If you join the Yamaha_DTX group, in the Files section, in the
folder "yyz pictures" there is a picture of how someone has adapted a
double beater to work with the KP80 pad. Basically, they have bent
one of the beaters to strike the pad *above* the other beater, rather
than next to it.

This group is noted for its good humour and helpfulness, so you are
in safe hands.

It's also noted for a large number of members of ... how shall I put
this ... advancing years. Make of that what you will.

hmm it dosn't seem to be there, perhaps im just feeling too tired
today and it might be right infront of me.. thinking about it that
probably is the case, anyway i understand what you are saying,
but looking at the prices for a double kick pedal compared to a
single one AND a second kick pad i think they should be about
even anway, so im quite tempted to have two seperate ones.

i am considering a pintech kick trigger because it has a good
price and seems quite good, but i am open to suggestions as
well.

Definitely there. Note: not this group (which is DTXpress) but the
group Yamaha_DTX, and not the photos section but the files section.

Which would give you more flexibility, of course, because you could
have other sounds on the other pedal if you wanted. Like a kick-
operated cowbell, for example, or a kit inc/dec.
